Dog potty training can sometimes be difficult. Most of us do not have time to spend all day at home with our new puppy. While we wish we could, this is often just not possible. We have to work. There is nothing more frustrating than coming home from a long day of work and finding out that your dog has had an accident somewhere in the house. This is especially true if it takes place on the carpet. This is so difficult to clean, and sometimes the odor just won't go away.Well all dog owners have had this same problem at some point. It is only natural, as the dog needs to be taught just like a person, to do its 'business' in the proper place. The good news is that this problem can be fixed quite easily. What you need to do is find a good dog potty training program. There are many available. Most of the time these programs cover more than just potty training as well. I highly recommend that you get a very early start with your new puppy on potty training. The younger they are, the more quickly they will learn. I will provide a resource at the end of this article that has worked great for me.To get you started, there are some very simply things that you can do:1) Once you find an 'accident' make sure you make your dog smell it while vocally enforcing that it is wrong.2) Get them on a schedule. Create consistent times that you take your dog potty. They will quickly learn what to expect.3) Praise them and give them a reward when they pee properly. This gives them positive reinforcement for their actions. It is not just the dog that needs training. We as their owners need to be trained how to communicate with our dogs.
